BBB Flooded With Complaints On 2 Auto Auction Sites
Stars-Automart, Autoaven Sent Cease And Desist Letters
POSTED: 12:41 pm MDT August 11, 2009
DENVER -- The Denver office of the Better Business Bureau said its telephone helpline has been jammed with calls from people across the country who are asking about two auto sales Web sites that claim to be headquartered in Denver.
According to the BBB, calls have been nonstop and the BBB has sent a "cease and desist" notice regarding trademark infringement to the company because of a fake BBB report the sites link to that falsely shows the company with an A+ rating.
The two Web sites list one physical address as 10701 W. Sixth Ave, but that address actually belongs to BBB Accredited business, Automotive Avenues, Inc. Another link goes to 3925 Monaco Parkway, which actually belongs to Cintas Document Management -- a paper shredding company.

The two Web sites, www.stars-automart.com and www.autoaven.com, claim to offer sales of repossessed vehicles.
The BBB said customers complain that once a majority payment is sent via MoneyGram to a Denver address, the company ceases communication. The company has not responded to the BBB.
An Internet check shows the two domain names are registered to a private registration company in Sunnyvale, Calif.
The BBB said it sent out the warning because on-delivery and Internet auction fraud were the top two complained-about fraud types at the Internet Crime Complaint Center.
"The BBB takes complaints very seriously and does not want any more consumers to be victimized," a news release stated.
TheDenverChannel attempted to contact the Web sites without success. The phone number listed on the site goes to a recording, which suggests callers contact them by e-mail. The same section of the stars-automart.com Web site lists a James Stewart as the owner.
To protect from online scams, the BBB has the following suggestions:
• Verify any organization credentials with the organization directly, (BBB, AutoTrader, Consumer Reports logos, etc.)
• Check the company’s BBB report at www.denver.bbb.org or by calling 303-758-2100. Only do business online with websites you are familiar with and that have a positive track record.
• Make sure the website has a privacy policy. It will contain agreements on how the information you provide on the website will be used and kept private and secure. Print this and keep it in your records.
• The privacy policy may also contain the company’s mailing address. Only do business with companies that provide a sure method of contact, should something go wrong.
• Do not wire transfer any payment. Wired funds cannot be traced and therefore cannot be recovered if you are a victim of fraud.
• If you have become a victim of fraud, contact your BBB and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to file a complaint.

Please dont fall for this and report them to law enforcement

Important! Is the site Jamglue LEGAL if you download the remixes?

Posted by admin

Question by Lovey: Important! Is the site Jamglue LEGAL if you download the remixes?
It is a free music download site and some people say its illegal if you download the tracks but if you download peoples remixes is that LEGAL?!?

the liscense for the songs are Attribution and it says:

You are free:
to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
to Remix — to adapt the work
Under the following conditions:
Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
Attribute this work:

What does "Attribute this work" mean?
The page you came from contained embedded licensing metadata, including how the creator wishes to be attributed for re-use. You can use the HTML here to cite the work. Doing so will also include metadata on your page so that others can find the original work as well. With the understanding that:
Waiver — Any of the above conditions can be waived if you get permission from the copyright holder.
Public Domain — Where the work or any of its elements is in the public domain under applicable law, that status is in no way affected by the license.
Other Rights — In no way are any of the following rights affected by the license:
•Your fair dealing or fair use rights, or other applicable copyright exceptions and limitations;
•The author's moral rights;
•Rights other persons may have either in the work itself or in how the work is used, such as publicity or privacy rights.
Notice — For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the license terms of this work. The best way to do this is with a link to this web page.

DOES THIS MEAN I CAN DOWNLOAD THE SONGS LEGALY?

I don't really get all that stuff you posted, but unless the remixes are made by the people who originally wrote the songs (or if the people who remixed it show that they have been given permission to do so by the songs' creators), I would say that it is still illegal, simply because it is illegal for someone to just take the songs as they please and make remixes of them, and then distribute the remixes.

Anyone lose their web site hosted by Network Solutions?

Posted by admin

Question by Lindsey M: Anyone lose their web site hosted by Network Solutions?
I have a web site I developed using Zen Cart and was hosted by Network Solutions. It was up from February 2009 until August 26 2009. All of the files on my hosting plan just disappeared. Called Network Solutions and they say someone "had to have" logged in and deleted the files.. Only I have the username and password, so this does not make sense and I haven't touched the site for 4 months! My client didn't notice their site being down until the middle of September. Network Solutions only keeps backups of their servers for 3 days so my site is completely lost, and can not be recovered.

Anyone else ever experience this problem? What do you tell a client that spend $ 2500 for a site, to only have it up for 7 months.. I have no backup since we constantly made changes up until a few months ago and everything was done using the Zen Cart app that was installed on the server. (no file uploads from a local computer to make updates ) Just wondering if I'm alone in this or not. I've haven't had previous experience with Network Solutions, but never have read great things about them as far as reviews, and think they are extremely over priced. My client had already purchased their domains and hosting through them so I was just trying to utilize what they had. Any suggestions on what I can do about this? I'm transferring the clients domains right now to GoDaddy.. Which Network Solutions has made it be a big pain, requiring my client to call them everyday to authorize the transfer. (unlock the domain, remove the privacy, change the outdated email address of where the EPP code was being sent) Because I'm only the Technical contact, and one of the administrative contact, but not the primary. Even my clients wife can't give authorization. Biggest Pain! My client has even tried putting the account in my name and making me the primary. Network Solutions won't allow it this either.. I guess they may be secure on domain transfers, but not secure in their hosting!!!

Any word of wisdom or advice would be appreciated!

When I typed my domain name into Google, 3 different links to my site came up, including the ‘About’ page,?

Question by Ray: When I typed my domain name into Google, 3 different links to my site came up, including the 'About' page,?
the 'Privacy Policy' page and the actual site itself? Could somebody please tell me what I've done to cause this to happen? I'd be eternally grateful for any assistance.
Thanks, Ray.
I put the script mentioned into the HTML in all the pages and then forwarded the URL to Google, but it's still the same. Do I just need to be patient while Google crawls it again?
BTW, my sites are built on WordPress 2.9.1 platform and this has never happened before? Thanks.

The page you gave to google has links which point to those sites. You have to add these lines to the html code for the google spider to skip that page:

That might be about all you can find, if their information isn't on their website. It looks like you did a whois lookup and that's the info you got. I suggest trying to find contact info on their website, and asking them, or send a letter to that address. Or you could try that email address "privacy...", but I'm not sure what the deal with it is.
