Help me think of a domain name!?
Question by Jason K: Help me think of a domain name!?
I am a developer who is working on a website that will have a series of applications devoted to protecting our right to privacy, so far the only application is a java applet with encrypted chat I created.
I can not think of a domain name, anything that IS NOT ALREADY USED (.com and .net only) and that reflects the privacy target of the website is good. I will also accept catchy names that have no meaning like meebo.com for instance.
Best suggestions gets credit!
I am trying to keep it limited to 2 words, anything over that should be an acronym that is pronouncable in a non-awkward manner

I'd say go fo a net one and think creatively. For example marketpointer.net has picked their name to reflect a number of meanings and used the net part as an added valuable in the wordings.
marketpointernet
MarketPoint
Market internet
ma ke point
If you check their logo on below site you will see what I mean. It's on the right side in the black border.
Hope this helps to give you some creative ideas.

Since English apparently isn't your natural language, I'll try to answer what I think you're asking.
Purchasing a domain does not mean you get hosting. You just have "ownership" of the rights to use that domain name. You have to arrange for hosting separately (there are companies that do both -- it doesn't sound like you purchased that), Now that you've purchased the domain, you can have your administrative contact information listed in the whois database, or you can turn on "privacy," which then defaults to the registrar as the entry in whois.

1 - Hosting: you can get good deals at http://www.domainhaul.com or http://www.godaddy.com
2 - Cheapest providers I know of are those two I just mentioned. It runs around $ 10 a year for a domain name and $ 5 a month for hosting ( a good hosting account with plenty of storage, free email, free blog and a bunch of other stuff ).
3 - You can set up a affiliate marketing accounts to make money --- http://www.linkshare.com and http://www.commissionjunction.com
You can also sell ads on your site through Google AdSense

Q&A: Could you help to correct my essay, in the aspects of grammar, coherence, content, vocabulary and logic?
Question by Yantong: Could you help to correct my essay, in the aspects of grammar, coherence, content, vocabulary and logic?
The topic is: Governments, instead of private companies, should be responsible for conducting scientific research. To what extent do you agree?
Here is my essay.
Scientific research is the base of technological developments which has significant impacts of the life of human beings. While conducting such researches always involve in huge human resource and financial support, so whether these scientific activities should be in charge by governments or the private companies are still open for debate.
Obviously, governments should contribute to researches. Most of scientific researches are on a long term run and cost vast money and time. In some cases such as the research of genes, the input is very huge while the result and benefits of them can not be achieved over a hundred year. It is impossible to rely on other organization devoting to this kind of research activity constantly without any incomes but on the ones supported by governments.
However, reaching the conclusion that governments should be responsible for science development is not the same as ignoring the dedication of private companies. In fact, private companies have been contributing to the development of science, although they are keen on some more applied and economic aspects, and we have large number of evidences already on our daily life basis. The area of computer science developing, for example, is currently dominated by several famous companies. Those enterprises provide funding support, input human forces, train young researches, and the effort of these is effective and remarkable.
In conclusion, it is no doubt that governments have the main responsibility of technological or scientific research while the contribution of companies cannot be denied. Some pure theory research can be afforded by government institutes, and in terms of the domain of technical science, privacy companies could be contributed, or governments and companies could cooperate together.

Scientific research is the source of technological developments which have a significant impact on the life of human beings. Carrying out such research always involves a huge amount of human resources, technical and financial support, so it is still an open debate as to whether these scientific activities should be subsided by governments or by private companies.
Obviously, governments should contribute to research. Most scientific research is a long term project and will cost vast amounts of money, and requires to be carried out over years rather than months. In some cases, such as that of the research into genetics, the input is huge, whilst the definitive results and benefits cannot be achieved in less than a hundred years. It is impossible to rely on other organisations devoted to this kind of research or activity and expect them to carry on constantly without any income unless they are supported by governments.
However, reaching the conclusion that governments should be responsible for scientific development is not the same as ignoring the dedication of private companies. In fact, private companies have been contributing to the development of science, although they are keen on more applicable and economic aspects, and, in our daily life, we already have a great deal of evidence to this fact. Those enterprises provide financial support and an input of human forces; they train young researchers, and the effort which they put into all this is effective and remarkable.
In conclusion, there is no doubt that whilst the contribution of privately owned companies cannot be denied, governments have the main responsibility for technological or scientific research. Some pure theory research can be financed by governments through national research programmes, and in terms of technical science, private companies can also make a valuable contribution, but governments and companies should harmonise their research programmes and cooperate together.
