This list makes me feel soooooooo old. I remember everything except the Kit Kat bar thing (although now I'm going to have to try that).

My kids are still being exposed to some of this. I still have a record player, and my 6 year old just learned how to blow the dust out of a NES cartridge herself (She's lovin the Zelda games lately).

We had a similar situation with a new cat when we moved house. A friend who is an animal behaviourist suggested putting the two cats we had originally into a cattery or in a friends house for 2 or 3 days to let the new cat become calm and familiar in her surroundings. We tried this two weeks ago, I took my two male cats to my Mums for a holiday and let my female-'Ginny', have the freedom of the house. When we brought the males back we kept them in seperate rooms - basically started the reintroduction over again. We let them smell each other under the doors and on my friends recommendation my partner and I would take turns carrying one of the males around for a few minutes in her presence(but not letting them near each other) while holding the male cat(s) we would stroke Ginny ,this was to show her that the male cats were not a thret to us, and as my friend referred to it 'dimming the borders of the pack' which basically meant we were showing Ginny how we are all in the one 'pack' if you like.

Anyway looong story short(ish) after a week of this we began to put the males down in the same room and stroke Ginny to reassure her and low and behold exactly 3 weeks a 4 days later she has become quite friendly with one of the male cats while the other male is not interested either way.

I suppose the outcome could be different depending on the amount of time you have to put into this and every cats personality is different however if you try some of my friends tactics and they don't work perhaps contact an animal behavourist they are miracle workers. Behaviour such as you are experiencing with the litter boxes and the plants as you know is a by-product of the problems with socialization which could be addressed by a behaviourist also.

Best of luck, hope it all works out in the end :o)

WHY IS SHE THE ONE WHO HAS HAD TO MAKE ALL OF THE CHANGES???????? New home, new brand of litter, litter box in a closet (w/door shut for punishment), etc.......She even has to "share" her "safe" place (bedroom?) with the "boys". I really feel sorry for her........

When you and your girlfriend are gone for days, leave Ontario in the bedroom ALONE......with all of her "stuff", including her litter box. Keep the boys away from her while you're not in the house. It won't hurt you to have her litter box in the bedroom ALL THE TIME.......as long as it's cleaned at least once (preferably twice) per day, the odor won't accumulate.

Change all of her "things" (litter, food, box, etc) back to the way it was before your gf brought her into this "house of horrors" (for her, anyway). Females HATE change way more than males. Most males are kind of laid back and don't really care....but females are different!

When you and the gf are at home......make a CONCENTRATED EFFORT to pay attention to her......with and without the others. They have each other, and are "bonded", but she has ONLY her "mom" and you. She needs extra love and attention.......not punishment. Her peeing on the bed was a "cry for help".

I hope you find it in your heart to be a better "friend" to Ontario, and not give her so much "grief"....she gets enough of that from the boys.

Good luck.........to Ontario......

Isn't multi cat ownership fun? Now your girlfriend's cat is the new animal that have made all the changes. New food, new place , and new litter.etc.. Try placing another cat box in the bath room, the reason for this is that the other boxes maybe being by the other cats. And they may have been mean to her when you were not there. It was not a good ideal to that you presented her to the other cats by holding her paws .
In my house the new animal is always allowed to make the first move, if i see that a animal may hurt another I'll break them up. Also remember cats aren't pack animals normally!

Wow, it's really a bad sign that she peed in the bed, she is seriously pissed off about her living arrangements. Some cats just don't socialize very well. The only suggestion I would offer is the towel trick - take a towel and rub it gently on one of the boys, then rub the towel on her immediately afterwards, then rub the towel on one of the boys again. This will intermingle their scents and sometimes will fix an anti-social or hostile relationship between them. You may have to keep doing it for a few days. I think if you get the cats acclimated to each other, then she won't pee where in your bed anymore, but until she feels comfortable in the apartment, you are going to have a problem.

Good luck!

i definitely say another check for a UTI is needed. nothing else would explain why he will poo-poo in it but pee-pee in it. he has got to be relating his pain while urinating in the litter box. it needs to be checked again. ask for a full blood panel check at the vet. good luck!

You should always have one more litter box than you do cats. If possible, they should be in different locations, and should be kept impeccable, which yours is if it's self cleaning.
Did you change litter brands recently. Some of the scents they use in litters are off-putting to cats.
It is strange though that he is only urinating outside of his litter. If he didn't like it, he'd likely just avoid it all together.
I think a re-test for a UTI is in order.
Good luck.
